The Bakersfield Weekend of Dancing ("Board Meeting") every
March has competitions. These are non-sanctioned, that is, the
hosting chapter, Bakersfield, sets the categories, eligibility
and other rules.
The Bakersfield Chapter runs competitions similar to those
of the Convention, but without using the "Star" format,
the levels being Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced
instead. Usually there are also limited events, like Senior
Cha Cha or a Swing competition.
As for the Convention, to compete in the major events one
must be both a National Smooth Dancers member and an
amateur dancer.
