The Dance Rules Committee sanctions the Convention competitions using the
.Dance Rules document,
which defines details like order of dances, attire, tempi, etc.
In each category the One-Star competitors compete in one dance,
Two-Star in two, up to Four-Star, which comprises all four dances.
On winning a level with five competing couples, one may no longer compete at that level, but must move up a
level in that category. The Ineligible Dancers
list tracks prior winners.
For non-sanctioned events, usually the Senior Waltz, Senior Cha Cha, and
Jack and Jills, the hosting chapter sets eligibility and other rules.
